Tom Bradley received a B.F.A. from the Hartford Art School in 1977 and a M.Ed from the University of Hartford in 1996. He is currently the Associate Dean of the Hartford Art School and has been on the school’s staff since 1977. In addition to his staff responsibilities Tom taught in the art school’s Printmaking and Sculpture departments as well as the University’s College of Engineering.
In 1977 he started Tom Bradley Associates, a design/build consultancy with a focus on the construction and renovation of artists studios, gallery and museum displays and custom furniture. His clients include the Dorsky Gallery (NY), Museum of American Political Life (CT), John Dempsey Hospital (CT), Joseloff Gallery (CT), University of Connecticut Medical Center (CT) as well as numerous artists and private patrons. He has worked closely with a number of artists in the realization of their artwork with projects ranging from interactive installations at the Whitney Museum of American Art to large-scale, outdoor sculptures at the University of Connecticut Medical Center.
Tom has served as a juror for local arts organizations including the Canton Artists Guild, Greater Hartford Arts Council, Connecticut Commission on the Arts and in 2005 and 2006 he chaired the Collinsville Arts Initiative Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. He co-served as a curricular consultant for Colby Sawyer College’s studio program, served as an accreditation team member for the State of Connecticut Department of High Education and is an advisor to the Northwestern Community College studio program.
He has interviewed in television and print media on issues of health and safety of art materials in the schools. In 2000 the Hartford Courant and the local ABC Television affiliate, WTNH, chronicled his work reproducing an ancient key later presented to Pope John Paul II during his visit to Bethsaida, Israel.
