The Hartford Art School offers programs in the fine and applied arts leading to the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts. Programs of instruction are available in nine areas: ceramics, drawing, illustration, media arts, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and visual communication design.
A minimum of 120 credits is required for completion of the Bachelor of Fine Arts. Specific requirements include a minimum of 72 credits in studio art (20 in foundations, 9 sophomore distribution credits, and 43 credits in the major and in studio electives). Academic requirements include 12 credits in art history; 12 or 13 credits in the All-University Curriculum (AUC); 6 credits in Rhetoric and Professional Writing (English); 3 credits in college mathematics; 9 credits in academic electives; and 6 credits in unrestricted electives.
