Michael Dionne, Visual Communication Design

Why the Hartford Art School?
I decided to tour this school and check it out. I was amazed by the quality of work I saw. I scheduled a portfolio review right away and was very excited when I found out I was accepted. I like the fact that it’s an art school within a university setting which allowed me to meet all sorts of cool people. Also, this school had sports teams, another strong point (I run Cross Country and Track). And lastly, the location was perfect for me... it’s close, but not too close to home.

What type of dinosaur would you like to be and why?
A Tyrannosaurus-Rex! Did you see Jurassic Park?! That thing is totally bad ass!

What is/was your biggest concern when you first came to school?
Wondering if I’d actually meet any good friends…and I did!

How do you manage being an athlete and an art student?
I was fortunate enough to be on a team which already had several members whom were VCD majors. They were able to help me out with managing my time and keeping me motivated. As long as you stay focused and use your time wisely, you’ll be alright.

What do you think of your teachers?
Quite possibly some of the coolest and most insightful people I know. Editors Note: It is unknown at this time whether Mike was paid to say this by Professor Mark Snyder.
