The Hartford Art School offers programs in the fine and applied arts leading to the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts. Programs of instruction are available in nine areas: Ceramics, Illustration, Media Arts, Painting & Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Visual Communication Design.
A minimum of 120 credits is required for completion of the Bachelor of Fine Arts. Specific requirements include a minimum of 72 credits in studio art (20 in foundations, 12 sophomore distribution credits, and 40 credits in the major and in studio electives). Academic requirements include 12 credits in art history; 12 or 13 credits in the All-University Curriculum (AUC); 6 credits in Rhetoric and Professional Writing (English); 3 credits in college mathematics; 9 credits in academic electives; and up to 6 credits in unrestricted electives.
